Everton have not intentions of dropping US keeper Howard

Everton manager Roberto Martinez insists he will not be dropping goalkeeper Tim Howard anytime soon.

The USA international has been criticised at times this season, particularly in the wake of last weekend's 2-2 draw with Leicester City when he was at fault for both the bottom-placed sides goals.

However, the 35-year old has an abundance of experience in European competition which suggests to Martinez that he will be more than handy in Thursday night's Europa League Round of 32 second leg against Young Boys at Goodison Park.

"I think the goalkeeping situation is important," said the Spaniard. "Tim has come back from injury, he needs to play and get his match fitness.

"Tim is a very experienced footballer. To have 50 appearances in European competition we don't take lightly, and in moments like tomorrow we need that sort of experience."

The Toffees won 4-1 at the Stade de Suisse last week and will only have to avoid a disaster on home soil to not progress to the next knockout phase of Europe's second tier club competition.
