Wolves have secured an agreement for a season-long loan with Metz for midfielder Boubacar Traore.
The 21-year-old Mali youth international will be playing for the Premier League club this term, but may sign for the long-term as well.
There is an option within the agreement for Wolves to sign Traore permanently for £9.5 million.
Wolves see him as a replacement for Leander Dendoncker, who has joined Aston Villa.
Traore played 27 games for Metz in Ligue 1 last season, managing one goal and assist.
Wolves technical director Scott Sellars said: "Our recruitment team have been monitoring Boubacar for some time and have been thoroughly impressed by his output in Ligue 1 over the past 12 months, his continued development as a young player and his consistent impact upon games."
