Sunderland have completed the signing of Ivorian defender Lamine Kone from Ligue 1 outfit FC Lorient.
The Black Cats reportedly paid the French club a £5million fee to bring Kone to the Stadium of Light after plenty of back and forth regarding the deal.
Kone has signed a four-and-a-half year deal with the Premier League club, much to the delight of manager Sam Allardyce.
“Strengthening our defensive options was a priority for us and Lamine is a player that has impressed me when I've seen him play.
“He is big and strong, attributes you need to play in central defence in the Premier League, and his arrival will give us healthy competition for places in a key position."
