DONE DEAL: Leicester sign Luis Hernandez

Leicester City have signed Sporting Gijon defender Luis Hernandez on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old will join the Premier League champions on a four-year deal when his contract with the La Liga side expires at the end of the month.

Hernandez becomes the Foxes' second summer signing as they prepare for the Champions League next season, while they are also chasing Watford striker Troy Deeney.

Hernandez is a product of the Real Madrid academy and played for their C and B teams but failed to break into the first team at the Bernabeu and joined Sporting in January 2012.

He didn't make his professional debut until September, 2012, aged 23, in the Spanish Second Division because he had spent so long with the Madrid academy.

He became a key figure in the side as they returned to La Liga in 2015 and Hernadez made his top flight debut at the start of last season, going on to play 37 times as they secured their La Liga status with a win over Villarreal in the last game of the season.

Sporting had tried to persuade Hernandez to sign a new contract but City are believed to have offered him a tempting contract last season and Sporting conceded defeat as early as April.
