Michael Platini has vowed to fight his Court of Arbitration for Sport ban.

The disgraced former UEFA president was banned initially banned for eight years in December 2015. He was handed the ban by a FIFA ethics committee for financial wrongdoing while in charge of the European football governing body.

Platini was paid $2m backdated salary in 2011 for working as advisor for Sepp Blatter from 1998 to 2002, which the committee deemed he wasn't entitled too.

A FIFA appeals committee cut the ban to six years, then CAS dropped it down to four, but Platini has now taken his appeal to the European Court of Human Rights.

"I want justice. I haven't done anything wrong," Platini said in an email to the Associated Press. "I want my integrity to be acknowledged. With this plea to the European Court of Human Rights, I am contesting all of the sanctions from FIFA and CAS. I will not give up."
