DC United coach Wayne Rooney is offering former Everton teammate Gylfi Sigurdsson a playing return.
The Iceland international, 33, has been out of the game since his contract at Everton expired at the end of the 2021/22 season.
Sigurdsson has been weighing up whether to return to football after being acquitted in a case of sexual assault in England.
The Sun says via the Daily Mail the midfielder is flying to Washington for talks with Rooney and DC United officials.
Iceland coach Age Hareide will be keen to see Sigurdsson return to action in the US. The Norwegian has stated the door is open to Sigurdsson for a national team return.
