Chuba Akpom becomes PAOK Invincible: Now for Arsenal in Champions League

Former Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom has become an Invincible with PAOK Salonika this season.

After 16 years at the club, Akpom left the Gunners last summer to join PAOK where he has just won the Greek Double in an unbeaten season.

Akpom, 23, told The Sun: “Not many people can say they are invincibles.

“Now I would love to play in the Champions League against Arsenal. That would be my dream."

As well as recording the first unbeaten league season in Greece since 1963-4, the club became the first side from outside Athens to win the title for 31 years in a triumph that went way beyond football.

Akpom added: “In Thessaloniki, there's one team. Everyone is PAOK.

“It's not just a football club. They say it's a religion, it's life. There's a big history between the Athens clubs and PAOK and it's about more than football.

“In Thessaloniki, they say it's PAOK against everyone.

“We should have won the league last year. They said nobody wants PAOK to do it.

“Last season there were a few incidents that happened and we had to start this season with minus two points."
