Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez insists he never went AWOL from Benfica while waiting for his move to go through.
Fernandez left Benfica for Chelsea in a club record €120m deal.
He recalled: "A lot of things passed to some press that maybe wasn't what was really happening. I know and it's a fact that I never missed any training session. I knew that negotiations were going on between the clubs. I just let myself go, I kept going. I kept my head down and continued to train.
"It's only been three years into my professional career. A lot has happened in a short space of time. I still feel like I'm on a learning curve. Chelsea were the team that gave everything to sign me.
"They showed interest in me even before the World Cup. The last day the market was stressful. The nerves were getting bigger as the market closed approached. I tried to stay calm and focus on my football. I was training and playing whenever I could, but the last few hours have been a bit agitated."
