Barcelona presidential candidate Freixa blasts 'thieves' during Alaves draw

Barcelona presidential candidate Toni Freixa slammed the match officials during their 1-1 draw at Alaves.

Barca dropped more points on Saturday as they could only draw with LaLiga minnows Alaves. Despite their opponents playing the last half-hour with 10 men, Lionel Messi and his teammates were unable to secure all three points at Mendizorroza.

Jota was sent off for Alaves after the hour mark, with Antoine Griezmann scoring for Barca a minute later to cancel out Luis Rioja's opener on 31 minutes.

Just after Rioja's strike, Barca - particularly Freixa - were convinced they deserved a penalty.

After a cross from Sergi Roberto, Frenkie De Jong missed a good chance in the 35th minute, although some claimed he was pushed by Ximo Navarro.

However, the referee did not see it and the VAR did not intervene.

“Penalty! Bunch of thieves!" blasted Freixa on social media.

Freixa is running for the Barca presidency at next year's election. The position is now vacant after last week's resignation of Josep Maria Bartomeu.

Friexa is an ex-board member under former president Joan Laporta and ex-spokesman under Sandro Rosell.
