Atalanta are closing on a deal for Genk fullback Joakim Maehle.

Maehle was interesting Olympique Marseille, but Sky Italia's Gianluca di Marzio has reported Atalanta have reached an agreement with Genk for the defender.

The two clubs have settled on a fee of €10m for the Dane.

An announcement for the signing is expected before the end of the week.

It's a blow for OM coach Andre Villas-Boas who had hoped to bring Maehle to France next month.
