Aston Villa midfielder Emi Buendia confesses River Plate ambitions

Aston Villa midfielder Emi Buendia says playing for River Plate is a career ambition.

While the 26-year-old says he does not intend on leaving Villa in the near future, he is leaving the door open to a potential return to his home country before he retires. Lining out for River, the club he has always supported, would be the dream ending to his career.

In an interview with ESPN Argentina, Buendia revealed he has been a “River fan since I was a kid."

He continued: "I always dreamed of playing football, playing for River, and well, obviously, I never close the door.

"But nowadays I have my head in Europe and tomorrow we'll see. I'd be delighted, because it's the club I'm a fan of, but we'll see in the future."
