Andre Villas-Boas thrilled winning Porto presidency with 80% of vote

Andre Villas-Boas is thrilled to have been voted in as Porto president.

The former Chelsea and Tottenham manager won with over 80% of the votes of the 26,000 members of the Portuguese club who went to the polls.

AVB thus became the 32nd president in the club's history, putting an end to the fifteen consecutive mandates, for a total of 42 years, of his predecessor and main opponent, Nuno Pinto da Costa.

"I will give my life for Porto," declared Villas-Boas after the victory. "I promise courage and I ask you to have it too. We have a long mission ahead to us, hard work in a house that must be tidy, structured and organised. Let there be no doubt, thanks to you, today FC Porto is free again."

Villas-Boas also had words of gratitude for Pinto da Costa: "I want to express my gratitude for everything he gave to FC Porto, for the life he gave to FC Porto and for the guarantee that this is and will always be the his house."
